Day 1: The Journey to the Glacial Lake
We begin very early with hotel pickup in Cusco. We travel by bus to Mollepata for breakfast. Then we continue by vehicle to Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike. From here, the ascent to Humantay Lake begins. The hike takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours uphill. The trail is steep and physically demanding due to the altitude.
Upon reaching 4,200 m.a.s.l., Humantay Lake awaits you. Enjoy the view of Salkantay Mountain reflected in the turquoise water. You will have time to take photos and perform Andean rituals. We then descend back to Soraypampa for lunch. A hot meal is well deserved after the climb. After lunch, we return by bus to Cusco. Arrival in the city is in the afternoon or early evening.
